Spicy Cheddar Breadsticks
Light and fluffy with a burst of spicy flavors and toasted cheese. Perfect compliment to chili and soups. Or, let them stand on their own as an appetizer.
Ingredients
- One sheet frozen puff pastry thawed (12-14 oz)
- flour for dusting
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese grated
- 1 teaspoon Peruvian Pink sea salt or any course salt
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper coarsley ground
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon hot smoked paprika
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- On a lightly floured work surface, roll the puff pastry out till it’s about a third larger.
- With a pastry brush, brush the top surface with the olive oil.
- Spread the salt, pepper, paprika and cayenne over the oiled surface of the puff pastry.
- Sprinkle the cheese over the pastry sheet. Lightly flour your hands and firmly press the cheese into the dough.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice dough into ½ inch strips. Cut the strips to the desire length you would like. Twist the strips and lay on the sheet pan without touching.
- Bake sticks for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
Store in an airtight container. Sticks may not be as crispy the next day. To refresh, bake in a 375 degree oven for 5 minutes.
